About

A directory of the vendors a restaurant is legally required to hire — with the law cited, and with a clear line between what we could verify and what we could not.

What this is

Every US state makes a restaurant keep its kitchen exhaust clean. Almost none of them make that easy to find out. We write down what each place actually requires, cite the regulation, and list the companies that do the work.

The point of each page is the cited rule, then the companies that do the work. It is not a lead-gen list wearing a directory costume.

Hood cleaning is live. Fire equipment is next. Pest control, grease trap and the rest of the back-of-house stack follow the same shape: cite the obligation, then list who does it.

How a badge on this site is allowed to be worded is on How we verify.

What this is not

It is not legal advice. The citations are so you can read the rule yourself. If your inspector and this page disagree, the inspector wins — and we want to know, because that is how the page gets fixed.

It is not a recommendation. Companies are listed alphabetically. Nobody has paid to appear, and nobody can pay to move up. We publish no reviews and no star ratings.

It is not complete. Hood cleaning is licensed as its own trade in three states. In the other forty-seven we say so, and we still list the companies we could find. A missing licence is not a verdict. It is the end of what a public source would tell us.
